Self Care Is Not Selfish

“Self care is giving the world the best of you, instead of what’s left of you.” Katie Reed

Let’s get one thing straight: Taking care of yourself first does not mean you turn into a selfish monster. Not even a little bit. Self care is meant to set yourself up for success in life. When you’re feeling and looking your best, you’re going to GIVE your best. When you’re at your worst or in a slump, you will burn out more quickly. It’s basic math...yet so often we fail to put ourselves in our list of “Top Priorities.”

Never think that you can’t do anything for yourself because you think it’s a waste of your valuable time. As a matter of fact, it’s the best use of your time. You give the best version of you to others when you put your own care first, and that’s what will shine throughout your life. If you’re not self-motivated...be motivated and rest in the fact that you can help other people by taking care of yourself

Self care comes in all shapes and sizes and it’s up to you to decide what’s best for you. Maybe it’s spending more time with your family. Maybe it’s forcing yourself to get into the habit of waking up before everyone else and meditating. Maybe it’s soaking in the bath with the book you’ve been dying to read but haven’t made time to pick up yet. Maybe it’s going to the salon and getting your nails done or taking time out of your day to work out and meal prep.

You’ll find that you have more energy and you have a more “go get ‘em” mentality than you ever did before. Trust me on this one.

I know this post wasn’t very long or intricate, but it was meant to be short, sweet and direct. I hope this provided a bit of motivation for you to take care of yourself and grab ahold of healthy living habits. I’m going to take my own advice and start making some MAJOR changes to my lifestyle in hopes that my self care will be more of a priority.
