King Of My Heart

Monday is here, and after a long, busy weekend I have an even busier and chaotic week to face. With that being said, today's post is solely to serve as an encouragement and motivation for you all to get through this week.

Something I'm focusing on this week is patience when things don't go as planned, especially when I need to get stuff done in a timely manner.

Last night I attended a worship night and one of the songs they played was one of my all-time favorite worship songs "King of My Heart" to which the chorus lyrics declare "You are good" and the bridge lyrics declare "You're never gonna let me down." There are two points to this song of which I am always reminded. These points are to serve as encouragement for you this week as you rest in knowing God is on your side, even when it seems like everything is failing you.

The chorus of this song says "You are good." Yesterday during the worship night I was so graciously reminded by my friend Anna, who was singing this beautiful song, that when you sing these words "You are good," sometimes you sing it because you believe it, but sometimes you need to sing it UNTIL you believe it. In the midst of your season of lack and self-doubt, in the midst of your season of pressure and anxiety, remind yourself that He is good. When life is not kind to you, God is a good God and He will take care of you. He wants to be there in every season, not just when things are going well for you, but in the hard times too when you feel like everything is crashing and burning around you. Sometimes you just need to take a few steps back and sing "You are good" until you believe it's true. Because life and death are in the power of the tongue, you have the power to speak into existence what you thought would never come to pass. God is just, fair, graceful, and He will protect you.

The second aspect of this song I would like to draw attention to is in the bridge lyrics. "You're never gonna let me down." These words are powerful when you think deeply about who's singing over whom. This is a declaration as well as a reminder that God will remain at your side always, and He will never let you down. Anything else you put your faith in will ultimately let you down in the end. He is faithful to you and will remain a constant rock of stability beneath your feet.

There IS another way of interpreting these lyrics: This is a song sung from God Himself to you.

"You're never gonna let me down." You might feel like you are surrounded by chaos and failure. You might feel like you are constantly letting people down. You could fail again and again, but you are never going to let God down. Keep running to Him. Don't live in shame or guilt, YOU are NEVER going to let God down. He loves you unconditionally. He loves you recklessly. His love for you is limitless. So next time you listen to this song, be reminded that no matter what you do, no matter how many times you think God can't forgive you, He already has. Today is a new day, no matter what happens God is walking alongside you.

I rest in knowing that I don't need the constant approval of those around me. I already have the encouragement and approval from my good Heavenly Father who is always with me, and who will never let me down.

I hope this resonates with you, and please give this song a listen when you have the time. What is your favorite worship song? Comment below!
