Life Update // First Week of College
This past week marked my first week of college. For those of you who were wondering how I'm doing and how I'm adjusting to my new schedule, I thought I would write a quick little life-update post. I may do these posts periodically on my non-posting days, just to let everyone know what's currently going on in my life.
College is a foreign land, I'm not used to my surroundings yet, and I don't know what's happening most of the time. I'm a college freshman, of course I'm going to be a little confused. However, this week actually wasn't the most stressful week of my life. In fact, I got a lot of school work done early and I was pretty on top of everything.
Whenever something new comes up in my schedule, I tend to think and work far enough ahead so that I'm not stressed out all the time. I spaced out my classes so that I would have enough time to get my work done, as well as focus on my hobbies. I didn't want to over-work myself and ignore the things going on around me like I did in high school.
However, the reason I'm able to take it easy this semester is because I over-worked myself in high school. I worked my butt off with online college credit plus courses as well as staying on top of my studies and getting straight A's my senior year. I'm very grateful that I had the opportunity to get those college credit plus courses out of the way, so that once I did reach college I could focus on the classes that I really needed for my major.
As of right now my focus is communications and psychology. I have one class on Monday, two on Tuesday, one on Wednesday, and one on Thursday. None on Friday, but I do have one I'm taking online.
My real struggle has been driving 25 minutes each day wasting gas to go to one class, just to turn back around and do it again the next day. Also, being broke from college books, student access codes, and parking passes. That was the most stressful part of this entire week: watching my bank account number plummet.
So anyway, that's what's been going on in my world. I've taken this rare opportunity of "free-time" to heart and decided to learn new things. I've been taking pictures, playing with graphic design and Adobe After Effects, spending more intentional time on the piano. It's been a good week, I know not every week will be like this, but I'd like to enjoy this time as long as possible.
