National Thrift Shop Day // Thrifting Haul

A couple of weeks ago I went on a big thrifting adventure with one of my best friends and we found SO MANY good things. So many good things that I felt the need to write a post about it, sharing with you the luck we've encountered. I didn't have many clothes to begin with, so now I pretty much have it MADE with a full new wardrobe at my fingertips. This post consists of my favorite purchases and outfits I put together from my findings.

Pro tip: if you don’t come out of the thrift store looking like you just shopped in your grandma‘s closet then you’re doing it wrong.

The shoes in this photo weren’t thrifted, but I feel like they kind of count because they were given to me. Also they looked really cute with this skirt and tank combo from Goodwill.

At first I didn’t think this skirt would fit, nor did I think I’d like the way it looked on me. My advice? Try it on anyway. You liked it enough to at least give it the time of day and take a look at it. Try it on. Even if you don’t think it’ll look good on you. Clothes always look different on your body than just on the hanger. Thrift stores are the PERFECT place to test out this theory too. Go for it!

This outfit has to be my favorite one I purchased during this thrifting jaunt. The entire outfit (shoes and all) are from Goodwill and I love it so much. The old school, business-casual vibe. It's completely out of my comfort zone when it comes to fashion, which is probably a good thing considering I don't really shop much or stay up to speed on what's "out of style" (aka my entire wardrobe at the moment). I saw a look like this on Pinterest once and really loved it so I decided to look for similar pieces to recreate the look! This mission was successful.

A very cute spring/ summer dress paired with these beautiful flats I got from Target. This dress is super comfortable and has zero flaws (a thrifting miracle). I don't normally wear dresses, but when I do they have to be cute AND comfortable. Ain't nobody got time to deal with an uncomfortable dress all day. Plus this dress has birds on it to match my tattoo. What would be better?

These jeans were a great find. Usually with thrifting, it’s either hit or miss and you rarely find exactly what you’re searching for. Before walking into this shop, I turned to Brittany and said “I really need to find jeans.” Sure enough, we walk in and after diligently searching for the perfect pair, I found them. These jeans are comfortable and they fit perfectly. The only downside to them is that there’s a little bit of wear by the belt and upper left pant leg, but it’s not enough to be a serious issue.

With thrifting, you have to keep your mind open and get creative with your choices. Have the “it’s $5, why not try it for a while?” mentality.

I can’t take credit for finding these pajama shorts. Brittany pick these up and I immediately fell in love with them. What could be better than flowers and comfort? Nothing that’s what. They are a tad big on me, but with the strings tied, I am able to pull it off... not like I’ll be wearing these in public or anything.

I’m still not sure how I feel about this shirt at the moment. I really love how it feels and how it looks in person, but pictures don't really do it justice.

This piece is the perfect example of my previous statement, do I or do I not look like I just shopped in my trendy Grandma’s closet? This is the reason I love wearing it. My favorite part about this blouse is that I can use it all through the fall and winter and really make it my own style. Vests, booties, scarves, blazers, sweaters. The layering options are limitless, and for that, I spot a good purchase.

Hello comfort. Fancy meeting you here. This sweatshirt is the comfiest thing I have ever worn in my entire life.  It’s really cute, and it’s shaped like a tunic which I feel flatters my body type really well.

Anything that’s blue like this makes my eyes pop and I am all about that. I don’t know if that’s a weird thing to say about yourself, but I’m just going to roll with it and say that this is a very cute piece and I like the way it looks on me. Ain’t nothing wrong with liking the way you look in a sweatshirt honey.

A super cute high-low button up blouse. I love wearing this open with a long necklace and layering it with a black or solid-colored tank underneath. This top is very versatile and can be dressed up or worn casually. I’ve been wearing this baby a lot since I got it, and I’m in love.

I’ve been digging purple these days. I’ve searched far and wide for a top this color that I actually liked, and here it is! This top has kind of an “athletic” vibe in the details, and is super comfortable and flattering with its slight high-low-trimmed bottom.
